For this tutorial, I’ll be using PowerPoint, which is widely available on Mac and PC. You can make a one-time purchase for Microsoft Office, or if you don’t already have it, you can get a monthly subscription starting at $6.99.
If you are only creating personal projects for your family, with no intention of distributing them, you can use any fonts or images that allow you to save and download them to your computer.
You can always read the terms of use of websites that offer free graphics to see if this applies to your use.
If you want to distribute your printables for free or for profit, you need to be very careful. You may use the images for commercial purposes only, including clipart and these fonts.
Free Printable Winter Cut And Paste Worksheets For Preschoolers
You can find free fonts for commercial use at Font Squirrel and Google Fonts. They are easy to download and then you will need to use your desktop/laptop to unzip the file and download the font.
Some websites offer free clipart, but I couldn’t find one that I really liked. I love Teacher’s Salary from Teacher Clipart and there are lots of cheap freebies or clipart to buy. Many clip art artists will also give you freebies so you can get a taste of their work.
Open PowerPoint, and on the Design tab, under Slide Size, you can change the size or orientation if you need to change from portrait to landscape. I always do this with the letter size for printing.
As you can see, when I add things to my printables, I always turn on my guides and grid so that I can place them correctly.
Design A Toy Worksheet
I have a set of clipart checks that I bought from Teachers Pay Teachers. To insert, I go to Insert -> Images to add images to the printout. You’ll want to add png files, not jpegs, because they won’t have a white rectangle around them.
When adding images, you can drag or rotate the corners, but you can easily resize them by clicking and dragging them to the picker.
To add a line, select the line tool from the main page. Go to the shape outline to select the line color and thickness. Once you’re satisfied, copy and paste the line several times. Don’t worry about them not being aligned properly.
To align the lines, move the bottom line to the bottom position where you want your lines to sit. Hold Shift and click all the lines, once they are selected they will have a circle like in the image below.

Go to home order -> alignment -> center alignment, then rearrange -> alignment -> vertical distribution. This will stack them all together and space them evenly, but you’ll want to move them to the center. With it still selected, right-click and group and regroup to group all rows together. Once they are grouped, you can move them together and center them using your grid.
You can add cute clipart by going to insert and photo. Resize it and move it to the corner.
To add text, go to insert -> text box. Position the text box so that it covers the entire page, you can choose to center your text, change the font and size at the top, and just type.
To save a file in pdf format, go to file and then export. This format can be used for printing on your printer.

If you are creating a project to share and want to create a graphic, you can choose File -> Save As -> jpeg to save as an image file for printing.
It’s similar to printing and you can move the writing lines as close or as far apart as you like.
